Well, it’s been so long since I’ve written!  The reason is that I just haven’t had much to say… I mean how much can I whine about being unhappy with my weight?  You guys know what I’m talking about, you share my pain, so how much can I go on and on about it.  Honestly I was getting really discouraged.  I tried to do the surgery through my insurance, and they’re really funny about it.  First of all, they will only cover some of it AFTER I have been with them for 5 years (in March) and at that they say that they will cover part of the surgery, but not the surgeon!  Hunh!!?????   What does that mean?  Am I supposed to operate on myself!?

Anyway, in spite of unsatisfactory answers by my insurance, I’ve decided to start going to the informational seminars anyway.  This way as least I’ll have a better idea of who I want to work with.  Also, I think I’ve mentioned this before, but it seems that the surgeons in San Diego would really prefer NOT to work with private pay patients.  I’m not really sure why, because I know other doctors prefer not to have to deal with the insurance companies, but here in San Diego things seem to work differently.  I’m not giving up, but sometimes it’s hard to stay positive about it.

Anyway, I’m going to take my little video camera with me and hopefully they will let me video tape some of the seminar, so that I can put it up here for you guys to see too.  Well, wish me luck- and I wish it back to you as well!!

I’ve been talking to a lot of people lately about getting the lap band. Some of the people that I talk to are people who have had the surgery already- all of them say that it was the best thing that they’ve ever done and that they have a new lease on life. Some of them are people who are curious about the surgery, but aren’t ready to take such a drastic step. And some of them are people who are totally against it. They caution me that there are all kinds of risks involved. Or that they know someone who knows someone who had the surgery and then gained all the weight back. Or some other such horror story. Others ask me if I’ve really thought about it. That’s the one that I really wonder about- I mean, what do they think!? I just woke up one morning and figured I’d spend $15,000 and undergo surgery just for fun!? Of course I’ve thought about it!

Anyway, I’ve thought about it so much that I even did a video on the subject of the risks… and here it is:

So- there you have it.  Those are the risks.  I’ve thought about it, weighed it and decided that I’m willing to take the risk for the fabulous (and FLAB u LESS) results.  I know that I’m going to have to make a lifestyle change, I know that I will have to make changes in diet AND excersize, but I feel that having the crutch of the lap band to help me make those changes will go far in helping me succeed long term. 

Well, those are my thoughts for the day- I’d love to hear yours!

I’m really hoping to get my surgery at the end of the summer.  In the meantime, I’m doing as much research as I can so that I really know what I’m getting into (or at least so I can keep myself busy while I wait, LOL).  Here’s a video about the pre- op and post op- lap band diets….

Well, it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted.  I still haven’t had the surgery- a number of things came up and got in the way.  Besides simply not having time to pursue it, other financial issues put claim on the money, lol!

I have a friend who had the gastric bypass surgery over the summer (last year) and she’s just now started to wear clothes that actually fit her, and I have to say, she looks AMAZING!  I want that!  (I mean  I want to look like that).

Other than that, everything is pretty much the same, I’m still fat, out of shape and researching the surgery.  I hope to have it by the end of the summer.  In the meantime, I’ve put together some other videos that are a little more factual, and a little less whiny, LOL.  I’ll be posting them here over the next few weeks.

Once I get closer to the surgery, I’ll update this blog more often.  For now I don’t really have much to say- how much can I whine to y’all about my weight before I do something about it, LOL!?  (if you know me the answer is a lot, but I don’t want to bore you here….)

Anyway, enjoy the videos and I hope very very soon I’ll be making regular entries here!!!!

Well, two days after Thanksgiving, and I still feel more stuffed than the turkey!  Which is pretty funny when you consider that I was sick this year and didn’t actually eat that much! I think there’s something about the holiday which inspires a feeling of being stuffed and bloated, no matter what.

I don’t really have much to add to the blog today, I just thought that it had been far too long since I’ve checked in.  The past week I’ve mostly been in bed, sniffling and coughing- I caught a nasty cold and have been trying my best to get over it.

Besides that, I’ve been feeling a bit stressed over the shrinking of my clothes lately.  Yes, I’m sure you’re right, it’s probably not really my clothes that are shrinking, but we won’t go there…  ;-)

Anyway, I hope that this cold clears up soon as it has my sinuses completely clogged and I have that head in a tin can feeling.

Umm…  I’ll return with more hard info and web finds in the next few days.  For now, Happy Thanksgiving/ Holidays!
